I've started building the "new" Airfix F-27 and have noticed as I have progressed on the kit that it doesn't look quite right. The new radar nose appears to be fat and flat compared to the real thing. In addition, to bring it up to the appearance of most all F-27's, the fillet along the leading edge of the vertical stab needs to be increased in size. Plus, the number of windows in the Airfix kit are incorrect.
I went and pulled out one of my Esci F-27s for comparison. The Esci kit looks like it has a more accurate overall shape. For me (building an F-27-200) the only real issue is the large cargo door. However, once I fill in the seems for that door, I should have things taken care of right? I mean, the smaller door inside the cargo door looks more like the cargo door of the erlier series of Friendships. The Esci kit also looks like it has the correct number of windows.
So, my question is; what EXACTLY is so incorrect about the Esci kit?
Thanks in advance for any (and all) responses
Cheers!
John
