For starters, how the Airfix DC-9 fuselage could be improved to equal or surpass the quality and accuracy of the MC MD-80 fuselage... to say nothing of how the Revell DC-9 wings and stabs could possibly be modified to equal or surpass the quality and accuracy of those provided in the MC MD-80 kit ...to say nothing of the engine cowlings...
Not to doubt that such a conversion with reasonably excellent results is possible ...but a better MD-80 as the end result than what can be built from the Minicraft MD-80 kit???
