Hi Keith!

No, they didn't indicate how often or why, but I'm guessing that it's fair to say that with an MD-80 fleet that numbered over 300 airplanes, they would have damage from trucks hitting them, etc, on occasion. They are made of formed fibreglass, and so are the trailing edges of the wings, ailerons and flaps on the DC-9, DC-10, MD-80, etc, so they are easy to replace if they get run into. They showed a tailcone being made in Tulsa.

I should also correct the spelling of the name of the CEO, which is Gerard Arpey.

I also found out that the show was called "Inside American Airlines, a week in the life" and is available from Amazon.com. I'll probably buy a copy.

Jeff Jarvis, SDF
