I totally agree.  Not just because I am one of those producers of old kits but because it is sometimes the only way you are going to get the rarer subjects that would too costly to create a new tool for with the limited sales on it. Also, we need less expensive kits out there to generate new model builders.  The industry is dangerously near collapsing just because there are so modelers left and no new blood coming into it.  I know many of you think the industry if fine, you have new customers, see kids at shows and so on but the facts and numbers are not lying (1987: 20,745 toy and hobby stores, 117 distributors in the US.  Today: less than 3,000 shops and only about 17 distributors that carry models).  Those are the facts and it is reflected in just those proportions in my sales as with the other manufacturers.
 
After all, this is suppose to be fun - that's all.   And if only most accurate kits turn  you on or some inaccuracies are not an issue for you, then that's fine as long as you are having fun.  And being honest with you, there are some nights I only feel like plunking a kit together, giving it a great coat of paint and decaling it.   That is total relaxation on tired nights.

I do not consider it reasonable to 'knock' those early efforts, because without them we would not have todays superb kits. Possibly in another 50 years time other modellers will be saying exactly the same!
